Thalia Hohenthal is the Senior Scientist of Research and Development for Guittard Chocolate Company, a fifth generation family owned and operated chocolate maker founded in San Francisco. A graduate of Food Biochemistry from University of California, Davis, Thalia is engaged in continuous study, discovery, and teaching to make the world a better place through the Food Science of chocolate.
With 36 years dedicated to chocolate, Thalia is a chocolate product designer, contributing behind the scenes to new food creation and commercialization. She creates intellectual property assets for Guittard including a US Patent for the chemistry of chocolate syrup and holds the industry honor of Master Confectioner granted by the Retail Confectioners International. Thalia also helps countless start-up ventures for Guittard customers including two in her own family. She invents new technologies, oversees Food Safety and Food Quality improvements, and makes a lot of wonderful friends while tasting a lot of fabulous chocolate.
