Tony Portugal is the CEO and Co-Founder of CACOCO, Inc. a drinking chocolate brand based in Santa Cruz, CA. He is a dedicated chocolate revivalist on a journey to share chocolate as it’s meant to be!
Raised an outdoorsman, Tony studied International Business at USD so that he could apply zero waste, leave no trace principles to natural product development with a global perspective. With a sharp eye for effective branding in a competitive marketplace, Tony co-created CACOCO with the goal to create a market driven regenerative enterprise that could support cutting edge ecological sourcing while providing a healthy product for customers.
Under Tony’s leadership, CACOCO received a Star of Excellence award for environmentally sound packaging, was nominated for Best Mission Based Product at the 2017 ExpoWest Nexty Awards, raised $73K from a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, and is distributed in Whole Foods and other major retailers. Tony is passionate about sharing his challenges and successes alike, and is eager to help others bootstrap passionate chocolate ventures, build sustainable supply chains, and execute successful crowdfunding campaigns.
